This is a small two storey house located in Abbotsford (Sydney), a charming area with a variety of early 20th century brick houses close to the inner city fringe.

Although the new dwellings recently constructed in this area are changing the local streetscape, the design process for the C House was intentionally mindful of Abbotsford’s unique character.

As a result, the C House is a contemporary dwelling that establishes a dialog with the local house type. Developed over two levels, it presents an open-plan living area at ground level and bedrooms on the upper floor, and offers a comfortable environment for a small family.

The client’s requests and constraints were well satisfied, keeping the cost within budget by using a mix of traditional and lightweight construction.
